To sting or not to sting.

What is more harmful a man eating shark or fierce and deadly stingrays attack? The answer is both but for some strange reasons stingrays are on the rise. For surfer this can create a big problem as they can leap out of the water and can sting you to death. In 2005, beloved Crocodile Hunter Stephen Irwin was malt and killed to a watery grave from a stingray. Are they going to appear on the Jersey Shore like they did for California coast? In this article, we will discuss with a professional marine biologist Scott Casano, a famous marine biologist from Catania Italy who specializes in stingrays.

The summer is coming and surfing season beginning, surfers are anxious to hit the ocean and the last thing they need is a panic about stingrays. Stingrays are closing related to another predator in the water the shark. Stingrays are mostly found in the tropical and subtropical seas. The stingrays are covered with skin, and an integumentary sheath, where phenom is produced. The stingray has a tail which Is where it can sting ray leaving you badly paralyzed or on the verge of dyeing. Stingrays are common to leap out of waters and attack people (this is shown in the picture above). Are stingrays on the rises, should we be worried even more know that we have the Gulf of Mexico oil spill or is just a something that shouldn’t even be bothered with. We will talk with Casano about this and if he thinks it is something to be worried about or just shrug off his shoulders.

Scott Casano, grew up in the Southern Italy that specialized in marine life. He says “I grew up next to the ocean and I appreciate every marine animal”. He studied in Italy, and then came to the States to study the upcoming epidemic of stingrays in California. After days of research, Casano came up with the conclusion “No, according the data he collected at Venice Beach.”Due to popular believe, stingrays are not on the rise, just because we see one doesn’t mean they are on the rise.” Casano commeted on his discovery “the stingray we discovered at Venice beach is dangerous and some are fatal”.Casano said “Stingrays are harmful to everybody in marine life due to their barb tail which is used to sting people.” The marine biologist commented on their eating saying “Stingrays are bottom feeder and prey on crustacean, mollusks, and worms” which means they are found on the bottom of the ocean not on the surface. I posed the question, what are they on the rise.” He replied “Typically due to environment changes and they try to adapt. With summer coming up, surfers ask the question “We it harm beach life i.e surfing, family outings. The catanist said“Stingrays are more afraid of you then you are of them. If there is an unfortunate encounter it is just a case of bad luck”. He also stated that “Stingrays may tend to inhabit the more shallow waters where surfers would be; however, because they stay near the bottom, surfers probably would know they are there”. His final word on this is “Let the epidemic’ run it’s course, and treat them carefully and with the respect any animal deserves”.
In conclusion, stingrays are not on the rise.

Junior exemptions

Why do seniors only get except? Is it because they work sooo hard? Junior should be able to get except. Most juniors meet the criteria and some are over achievers. Shouldn’t they get extra practice for college? A student would try harder if there is a reward. Ever hear the saying “the harder the work the greater the reward”. Most juniors are eligible to receive exemptions. If you poll juniors in RBR, they would all give you the same answer, if they are eligible to receive an exempt they would work harder. This gives a junior the mind set to try harder and receive better grades. Everybody has to work for something whether money or fame and when they receive it, it is so much sweeter to them.
Up until 2005, juniors were allowed to get exempt. This brought grades up an all time high and finals an all time low. Wait, doesn’t having good grades better represent the school rather than test. For some reason, the BOE decided to remove junior exemptions. Shouldn’t juniors receive an exemption because it our hardest year and senior just be better prepared for college. What happen in college, can they get exempt. Junior year is when we began our SATS and prepare for life after high i.e work or college. Senior has their college planned out and they know exactly what they are doing. A junior year is stressful enough without us worrying about finals. A junior year represents the year college look at the most. In this recent story, doctors explain junior takes a toll on high students and stress can cause many medical problems. My opinion junior exemptions should be reinstated so junior can receive the reward after a long school year’s work.


Satire
Exaggeration-In this article, I satirized the fact that seniors work harder than they do because they are about to college and give up on senior year classifying themselves as having senioritis. Juniors work harder to make the college proud and entice them to choose them.

Reversal- The fact that the state of NJ, looks towards test grades rather than overall grades. IN achieving a better grade, it means that you are a hard worker and retain the material.

Step Brothers.

Step brothers is a must see movie. It follows Dale (John C.Reily) who is 40 years old a still lives at home and Brandon(Will Farrell) who is 39 and still lives at home. The two boys become family when Dale’s father marries Brandon mother and is forced to move into the Duback’s house. At first, Brandon and Dale don’t see eye to eye and exchange harsh words to each other. They become friends when Brandon younger successful brother Kyle comes to dinner at which point Dale becomes so frustrated at him he punches him in the face. Then the boys become brother who spent most of their time together playing with lightsaber, wearing night vision goggles and even attempting to build a bunk bed to further pursue more activities with a bigger space. Live seems good until Mr. Duback threatens both boys that if they don’t find a job in 30 days, they will be forced to move out. Interview after interview of making a bad impression, the boys decide to embark on a career in music called Prestige Worldwide. The boys ruin Mr. Duback boat in their premiere video Boat N’Hoes and at which point Robert divorces Nancy. Dale and Brendon part ways but they end up reuniting the Catalina Wine Mixer. Go to your local video store to rent this must see, laugh out loud, 2 thumbs up movie. In my oponion, this is the best movie of 2009.

The best summer of My life
Everybody Red Bank High school dreams of not waking up at 6:30 a.m to go to school and for the class of 2010 its reality. 4 years of high school have paid off when each student receives their diploma. When students exit through the doors for their final time, its school mode off and summer mood begins. Many students departure from their school friends and other stay close. The question on everybody’s mind is what is planned for summer?
Pierre Nelson, Shrewsbury, has a jam packed summer. This past year, Shane has worked hard in all his classes. Receiving high honor role and taking AP tests is stressful but if anybody deserves a break it’s Neslon. With his days numbered, Neslon is eager to begin his summer plans. His first summer plan is on June 21, 2010 when him and the rest of RBR receive their diploma and go into the real world and is turning 18th on the same day. After graduating, Nelson is throwing a party in which all his friends attend. Goodhue is watching his favorite team France. On his off time, Neslon will head to the beach to catch some rays and work at his uncle’s construction. Before the summer ends, Neslon will attend the summer blowout concert of Tiesto on July 17, 2010. At the end of the summer, Nelson will pack his packs and head off to University of Maryland. Nelson will have a busy summer.
Franco Floro Flores, Little Silver, is anxious to begin the summer. This free spirited senior has many plans for the summer. As the rest of the RBR Senior Student Body is ready to receive his diploma on June 21, 2010 and enter the real world. As a reward for his hard work in high school, Pete is throwing a party to end all parties. In his free time, Floro Flores will head to the beach to catch some rays and have fun in the sun. For money this summer, Floro Flores will begin at the local construction company. Suring his day off Floro Flores will attend concert such as Slightly Stupid, 311 and Pepper. Floro Flores will stay in Jersey to further pursue his academics and the summer of 2010 will be the best summer of his high school career.
The summer is the chance to unwind and fell at ease after a stressful year of school. Every student with have their summer adventure and will return in September to tell their story. Have a safe and happy summer Red Bank Regional.
